Nothing on ScooterMatch was ridden, assembled or tested by us in person, and no page says otherwise. Here is what we do instead.
Specs from the listing, never guessed
Every product is a real Amazon listing. We read motor watts, top speed, claimed range, battery, max load, tire size, age rating, bar height and helmet fit range from the listing's own title and feature bullets. Where a spec is not stated, the page says "check the listing" rather than filling it in. Listings that quote several configurations in one title are flagged, because their numbers describe the top configuration.
Physics for what listings leave out
Box range assumes a 165 lb rider at eco speed on flat ground. Our range and hill numbers use rolling resistance, air drag and climbing power with a 75 percent battery-to-wheel efficiency and 90 percent usable capacity. The same code runs the range and hill calculators and every spec page, so they never disagree.
Sizing conventions, labelled
Kids sizing uses CDC growth-chart medians; kick scooter bars sit between hip and waist; pro scooter bar heights follow the common sizing chart; helmet sizes follow the usual circumference bands. Each is labelled as a convention on the page that uses it.
Safety and law
Helmet advice follows the certification standards (CPSC, ASTM F1492, NTA 8776, ASTM F1952, DOT). Scooter laws vary by state and city, so law pages describe common patterns and tell you to check your local rules. This is researched guidance, not legal, medical or professional advice.
